Studies have shown that 50% of physician entered evaluation and management codes do not meet the HCFA Guidelines! (see references) Over-coding office visits can lead to an audit and severe penalties. Under-coding office visits leads to lost revenue (and can still subject you to an audit).

Zapcode makes it easy to follow the HCFA Evaluation and Management guidelines in selecting the proper billing code. As you enter the history and exam information, it calculates the HCFA scores for each area and the proper code. You can also see the effect of changing different parts of the exam. ZapCode can save all of the information you entered to create an audit trail of your exam. It can print this directly or "sync" it with your desktop system for printing and filing.

New! You can now select either the 1997 or the 1995 version of the HCFA E/M rules to determine your code. It's easy to switch between the two to compare coding.

Many people prefer the earlier 1995 version of the HCFA E/M rules since it permits more flexibility in coding exams.
