Download and Install Overview
The procedure to download and install ZapMed software is as follows:
1. Download the zip file to your computer.
2. Unzip the zip file to separate all of the individual files.
3. Install the program (.prc) and data (.pdb) files on your handheld.
4. If you have registered your software, enter your registration code.
Finally, please read the manual so you'll understand all of the features of the software.
1 .Download
Each ZapMed software program comes as a "Zip" file that you can download from the "Products" page.
Download the file for the product your are interested in installing and save it to a place on your computer where you can easily find it such as the desktop or a "Downloads" folder.
This file will have a name such as ZapBill.zip or ZapCode.zip.
2. UnZip
You'll need to "unzip" the file. This requires a separate program that is already installed on many computers. If you don't have an unzip program (double clicking on the zip file should call the unzip program), you can install the free unzip program at this location: Aladdin.
The unzip program extracts all of the individual files from the zip file.
3. Install the files on your Handheld
Start the Palm desktop software and click the "Install" button.
Drag or select the prc and pdb files that you extracted from the zip file to the Install window. The "ReadMe.txt" file will give you a list of the files you need to install.
HotSync your handheld to your desktop and this will install the files.
Please note that if you are installing the large procedure code and diagnosis code files for ZapBill or ZapICD, the initial installation Hotsync will take a long time. On slower connections and earlier model Palms, this can take one or two hours. Please be patient.
4. Register your software
When you install the software, it will be a "Demonstration" version. When you register your software, you will receive a five digit registration code. Enter this code into the software on your handheld and it will unlock all of the features of the software to make it a fully functional version.
On your handheld, tap the Menu button then choose the "File" menu. From the File menu choose the "Register" option.
Enter your registration code on this screen to register your software and unlock all of the features of the software.

"Demo" and "Registered" Software
All of our software is distributed as "Demonstration" software. These are full versions with limits on some features (typically restricting the number of patients and data output functions). When you register the software and enter the registration code on you Palm, this unlocks all of the features of the software. All you need to convert a demonstration program to a fully functional registered version is a registration code.
You don't need to download or install any additional software on your Palm when your register. Just enter the registration code that we provide and this will unlock the full functionality of your software.
The demo version of ZapBill comes with small ICD and CPT code subsets. You will want to have more complete code sets when you use the program. Download the ZapData.zip file for complete code sets.
If you are still testing the demo ZapBill program and want to test it with complete code sets, you can load any of the code sets from this file into your Palm for use with the demo version of ZapBill.
